How to Make Vinyl Handles

Watch this video for step by step instructions on how to make a handle for your bag or purse out of vinyl or faux leather.

You can also follow the steps and pictures below as well. 😊 ⬇️

Written Instructions

⭐️ Cut a piece of vinyl to your preferred length, just make sure the piece is 2" wide.

⭐️ Next draw a line down the center along the length of your handle. You can use a pen, since you'll be marking this line on the wrong side of the handle.

⭐️ Place one strip of 1/8" double sided tape along one side of the line and another strip of the 1/8" double sided tape along the other side of the line.

Peel off the double sided tape, exposing the sticky side.

⭐️ Bring both long edges to the center of the handle, touching the sticky side of the tape.

⭐️ Use clips to hold the vinyl in place as you fold it towards the center of the handle. ❗️Never use pins on vinyl❗️

⭐️ Repeat same process but now on the other side of the handle.

⭐️ Next, take it to the sewing machine⭐️

Using a teflon foot, you need to complete 4 lines of stitches.

You'll stitch down the center of the handle, using 1/8" seam allowance along both long edges. Then you'll stitch along the folded edge of the handle, using a 1/8" seam allowance as well.

⭐️ Now your vinyl bag handle is complete! 😊

⭐️ At this point you can add rivets to join the handle to your bag or purse.
